A speakeasy is born of whatever the era makes rare.
A century ago it was a stiff drink. Today it is an hour with nothing coming at you.
The city is an exercise in addition.
Noise, screens, crowds, the pressure to be interesting, all of it arriving whether or not you agreed to it. By the end of an ordinary day the nervous system has been working since you woke, and very little of it was your choice.
Deep rest has become as hard to find in New York as liquor was in 1925, if you don’t know where to look. That is the whole idea behind the name. A speakeasy serves what the era has made scarce, behind a door you have to be told about.
So we built a room by subtraction.
We returned to first principles and reviewed common assumptions. We took things out until what remained was heat, cold, breath, and quiet, with a host to hold the pace.

Four Principles
- 01
Intimate format
The room stays small on purpose. It is not about exclusivity; it is about giving every guest enough quiet and every host enough attention to read the room.
- 02
Guided experience
The Signature is paced by a host, from the first round to the last pour. The Reset is self-guided, with the room’s rhythm made clear and the team close by.
- 03
Nervous system reset
Heat, cold, and stillness make the city’s noise harder to hold onto. Most guests leave quieter than they arrived; the deeper physiology lives in the Elahniverse.
- 04
Design as practice
Low light, warm cedar, measured sound, and an unhurried pace all serve the same end: fewer demands on your attention, and room to settle on your own.
By reservation only.
The door is unmarked; an e on the wall marks it. The address and the way in arrive with your confirmation. Come for a seat you share with a few others, or take the whole room for your party. For anything you would ask in person, text the house at 212 461 2513.
